What is OT@NYU?
OT@NYU is the clinical Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program delivered online by the NYU Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Integrating a diverse range of electives and interdisciplinary courses, OT@NYU empowers occupational therapists to delve deeply into their area of specialization to build the competence and expertise they need to pursue leadership and management roles. OT@NYU prepares leading practitioners to critically reflect on their own clinical practice; provide high-quality, client-centered care; and address the ever-changing needs of our global society.
What sets NYU’s OTD program apart from other programs?
Our clinical Doctor of Occupational Therapy program offers a highly personalized curriculum that allows you to tailor your education to your specialty area of interest. You’ll also benefit from the worldwide resources and opportunities available at NYU, the extensive clinical and research experience of our expert faculty members, and the global connections you’ll build with classmates living and working all over the world.
Will my diploma indicate that I earned my degree online?
No. After you complete the program requirements, you will receive a diploma stating that you earned a doctoral degree from the Department of Occupational Therapy in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University.
Will I be required to visit the campus?
No. You will not be required to visit the campus while enrolled, but you may choose to take certain electives on campus in New York City. As a member of the NYU community, you are welcome to visit the campus at any time.
How many credits are required to complete the online Doctor of Occupational Therapy program?
You must complete 36 credits to earn your degree.
What is the student-to-faculty ratio?
Our student-to-faculty ratio is approximately 15:1. OT@NYU classes are kept small to ensure you receive the support and attention you need to be successful.
Is the online program offered full time and part time?
Yes. You can complete the program full time in four terms or part time in six or eight terms.
Can I work full time while enrolled?
Yes. OT@NYU is designed to fit into the schedules of practicing OTs so they can continue working while earning their degree.
What are the prerequisite degrees?
To apply, you must have both an entry-level degree in occupational therapy and a master’s degree.
Do I need to provide standardized test scores?
Yes. You must provide GRE scores as part of your application.
Can I request that my transcripts be sent electronically?
Many schools issue transcripts electronically, either through their own web services or through vendors. If this option is available, request to have your transcripts sent to firstname.lastname@example.org to expedite the delivery of your transcripts and the completion of your application.
I’m not a US citizen or permanent resident. Can I apply?
Yes. The online program is offered to international students as well as US citizens and permanent residents. International students should check with their home country for any restrictions on online degree programs.
I am a US citizen living abroad. Am I eligible for this program?
Yes. The online program can be completed from anywhere in the world.
Can I apply to both the on-campus and online program at the same time?
No. Per NYU Steinhardt policy, you may have only one active application for an NYU Steinhardt program at any given time.

Is there an application fee?
A $75 application fee is due with your completed application. If you apply by the priority deadline, the application fee is reduced to $45. View upcoming deadlines.

What is the cost of attendance for OT@NYU?
Based on 2017-2018 tuition rates, you can expect to pay $59,760 in tuition for the 36 required credits. You can find additional details on our Tuition and Financial Aid page.
Will tuition change with each academic year?
A moderate tuition increase can be expected each academic year. The Board of Trustees at NYU reserves the right to alter the schedule of fees without notice.
What if I cannot pay my tuition all at once?
Payment plans are available. For more information, click “Payment Plans” at the bottom of the Graduate Financial Aid webpage, and you’ll find two options.
Do I have to pay out-of-state tuition if I live outside New York?
No. NYU is a private institution, so all students pay the same tuition rate.
What type of aid is available?
Applicants are eligible to apply for federal loans, grants, and program scholarships. Awards are distributed based on the number of applicants, their financial needs, and available resources. Federal funds, available to US citizens and permanent residents, include Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans and Direct GradPLUS Loans. We encourage you to apply for financial aid at the same time you apply to OT@NYU. To apply for financial aid, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and all required supporting documents.

Online Experience FAQ
What are the online courses like through OT@NYU?
OT@NYU’s online courses put you face to face with faculty and peers from across the globe. Our faculty members work with a team of experienced producers to bring their courses to life in a collaborative online environment. Course work includes discussions between faculty and students, video case studies, presentations, and interactive elements that allow professors to see your progress and leave comments and feedback.
Will I be able to interact with my professors and classmates?
With access to our virtual campus, you’ll use familiar social networking tools to join social groups with your classmates, contact professors, and set up virtual study sessions and happy hours.
What if I need technical assistance?
You’ll be assigned a dedicated student support adviser who will acclimate you to the online learning environment and answer any questions you may have along the way. You’ll also have access to live technology support during each class session so you can experience uninterrupted learning.
What other services are available to online students?
NYU Steinhardt provides the same services to online students that we provide to on-campus students. In addition to receiving technology support, you’ll work with an academic adviser throughout your enrollment and you’ll have access to library and career services, the writing center, and our expert faculty.
